Black Friday

This year, Thanksgiving day I wasn't so sure if there would be a need for early morning shopping -- until I was looking through the circulars are saw an add for a 42 inch TV at Walmart.  The sale started at 5 AM and the circular said that there would be a minimum of 5 per store. 5?! I needed to get there early if I wanted to get one!  Chelsea and I decided to go to Walmart at midnight, and just wait in the line for the TV until 5.  Sounds horrible, but it really wasn't.

We arrived at Walmart a little after midnight and there was NO parking.  I had to park on the grass at the very back corner of the parking lot.  When we walked in, we were in awe. Every single aisle was filled to capacity.  You had to squeeze in between people and duck and dodge to get around.  It took a while to find the line, due to uninformed (assumed temp) employees.  When we finally found the line, we found a Ripley's Believe It Or Not! book and popped a squat to read it.  The best part was that we only spoke in a british accent the whole night.  We sat in line until about 3, when my dad came to stand in line for us so we could go to Target.

Target opened at 4, and we got in line around 330.  Chelsea and I found Nate and Betsy in line, so we stood with them. Those 30 minutes standing outside in the FREEZING weather felt at least ten times longer than those 3 hours inside at Walmart.  Target is notorious for having the WORST lines on Black Friday.  Luckily for us, we had a game plan.  I would run to the furniture area for a computer chair, and Chelsea would run to the kitchen area for a nice set of pots and pans.  The doors opened and we bolted.  We found our objects and made our way towards the checkout.  We were one of the first people there, so there was no line at all. We were in and out of Target in 15 minutes, top.  BOSS.

After Target, we went back to Walmart to swap with my dad again.  We got the TV, pulled around to the back of Walmart to have them load it in my van and enjoy the rest of our shopping day.

Kohls was next to buy clothes to my family. We got everything we needed, so decided to wander around the mall for a while, waiting for my dad to finish his hockey game.  We got a Red Bull from Charlotte's Russe, which was just what I needed to not zombify on the way home.

Next stop was Briarwood mall.  We picked up my cousins to come with us, and made our way around the mall.  First stop was Abercrombie, only so Chelsea and I could get a nice whiff of Fierce.  While making our way around the store, one of the employees approached me asking if I wanted a job. Cha-CHING! Perfect timing, my bank account is starting to whither up. I've got an interview with them tomorrow. Wish me luck!

My one goal was to find an sweatshirt, but a very specific plain "boring" comfy sweater. Problem is... NO ONE HAD THEM. I find one and only one at Sears. I fell in love with it, but was so sad that was the only one I could find.  I walked through so many stores... Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, Pac Sun, Gap, Banana Republic, Express.... NADA. I didn't see anything I liked. The only thing I semi-liked was these cardigans from AE. Not much caught my eye this year.

I was virtually sleepless this past weekend.  Last Wednesday I woke up at 9 for my class at 10.  I didn't go to bed until 7 am Thursday (I will talk about that adventure later...), planning on sleeping until the late afternoon to stay up real late for shopping.  Problem was... my dad woke me up at 11, so that plan went out the window.  The only sleep I got later was a 15 minute nap before going to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Then I didn't sleep at all Thursday night, then went on a shopping extravaganza.  I took a 2 hour nap after finishing shopping before going to my friends house for Thanksgiving Dinner pt. 2. Then went to Betsy's house for some games.  I finally got to bed around 1 am.  Let me do the math for you...  In 63 hours, I only slept for 6.15 hours. DEAD TIRED = ZOMBIE in the mall.

In X Factor news...

This week 2 contestants were sent home. Katie and Wagner!
Next week is the semi finals and the following week is the finale! This season RUSHED by.
All the judges, except for Cheryl, only have one contestant left... this is getting tense.

Sorry for the lack of updates last week.

Chelsea came over to our apartment, and we went on various adventures which explains lack of post of Tuesday.

Friday was Black Friday which meant I didn't sleep at all because I was at various stores. So when I got the chance to be at home, not at a store, you bet I slept!

Black Friday adventures coming Monday...

Eat that gobble gobble.
Fill up on tryptophan, and get that nap out of the way!
It's practically black Friday!

Today is my last day of class before Thanksgiving break!

I'm so glad we have a break, because I just need time off from these classes!

X Factor

Buh bye Paije!
Dannii only has one boy left!

I'm still really sad that Aiden is gone... :(
So is Matt Cardle...

PS. Katie got a haircut... and it looks terrible. She clearly can't pull it off like Emma Watson.

Guess What I Didn't Do Last Night

See Harry Potter...

Not because I'm not a fan. Because I've already got plans to see it next weekend with the coolest people ever.

Did you see it? How was it?

Eating My Feelings

Nate and I do not think we did very well on our Calc 2 and French Exams (respectively) so we ate our feelings last night.

Chicken nuggets.
Ice Cream.
Halloween Candy.
Spinach Dip.
Food. Food. Nom. Nom.

I also need to catch up on sleep due to my late night shenanigans yesterday.

It's a Pink Cannibalistic Friday

Two of my highly anticipated CDs leaked.

Ke$ha's Cannibal

 Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday

Rap and Pop. Nothing gets better than this.

I haven't given either of them a thorough listen yet, but I plan on spending all day listening to them! I will let you know my verdict on them at a future date.

Over the Moon.

I saw yesterday that Rent is making it's Broadway revival, which reminded me that I've never seen the movie or the show.  I had the intention on watching the movie back in 2005 when it was released on DVD, but after I got home from Blockbuster with it and started watching it I got... bored(?) with it, so turned it off.

5 years later, I decided to give it another go.  I downloaded the movie, and starting watching it in between classes.  I was feeling it this time.  I really liked seeing Idina Menzel in that movie! She was great. The character of Mimi however, I was not feeling.  Nor did I like Roger. I liked the story, but felt the movie was underwhelming.

With that in mind, I downloaded Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway which was it's last show on Broadway 2008.  It was so much better than the movie! It moved at a faster pace, Mimi's voice didn't make me cringe, I loved the characters so much better. It was just so much better overall. I totes recommend it!

On a more sombre note... Aiden was voted off X Factor. Its devastating, especially for Matt Cardle, since the two were BFFs. I'm going to miss Aiden. He was one of my favorites. :(

HBD Betsy!

This past weekend was a celebration of Betsy's 21st birthday.

On Friday night, we went to Amy's house for a hair dying party, where Betsy dyed her hair a nice Chezza-tinted red and I bleached Chelsea's roots.  It was a fun night.  Amy made Betsy a cake... well sorta. The cake wasn't cooked all the way through, so it was more like eating semi-solid cake batter. It wasn't bad with ice cream though!

Then on Saturday, Nate and I went to with Betsy to the mall to help find her a nice outfit for later that evening.  We found her a real sexy outfit at Express, and the best thing is that it was on clearance! Bargain shopping = THE BEST!

After the mall, I got ready at my house then went back to Betsy's house to do her hair/makeup. With Amy's help, Betsy looked WONDERFUL!  We went out to a fairly new restaurant, Hayden's in Canton.  I really liked it! The atmosphere was great, and the food was great at a great price!

After dinner, we came to Ann Arbor to go to Necto.  Before we went to the club, we went to our apartment so Betsy could open her gifts and what not.  She got some really nice jewelry-- but she told me that her FAVORITE gift was the game I got her! Pass the Popcorn!

The club was much more fun than I thought it was going to be! Chelsea was super nervous about going, but she loosened up and had a great time! The negative about Necto: THE CREEPS. There are some OLD Arab guys that just hang around and wait for drunk girls with beer goggles to make out with them.  It's disgusting! The positive: Chelsea and I got quite a few laughs thanks to boys from Staten Island.

We just danced the night away! It was a blast!

Whataya Want From Me

Today I finished something that I've worked really hard on and that I am really proud of.
I mixed a mashup of Pink's newly released song Whataya Want From Me with Adam's recording of the same song.

A little history on the song...  Pink wrote and recorded the song, but it didn't make the cut onto her CD Funhouse. It was sitting on the cutting room floor for a while until Adam Lambert made his way onto the scene.  Pink must have saw something in him, because she handed the song over to him to record a version of it for his debut CD For Your Entertainment.

About a year later, and after the song gained mainstream success due to Adam Lambert, Pink decided to include her version of the song on her Greatest Hits CD. In my opinion, it blows Adam's version out of the water. You can hear the pain and emotion in her voice -- more so that Adam's. She owns that song.  Saying that, I thought that it would be really cool to hear a mashup of the two versions of the song.

Here is the song streaming for your listening pleasure.

I've posted the song around, and have been asked for a download link, so you can download the song here:

Football with Hugh Jackman

Recently I was in NYC with some friends and was invited to the Jackman's house for lunch.

I was FLABBERGASTED by their apartment. It is insanely beautiful and breath taking.  My blog picture (to the right, by my "about me") is from their balcony! Incredible view, no?

After lunch and chit chatting, we went to the park across the street from their apartment to play some cricket and "football" (aka soccer, you know those Aussies and their foreign talk!)

When we were at the park, there were tons of paparazzi around but we just ignored them and continued to play our game.

Hugh and his son were captains.  Hugh picked my friends to be on his team and I was chosen to be on Oscar's team.

Not going to lie, my team won.

Here are some pictures taken of me kicking some Wolverine ass.

Monday evening, USA network came to U of M to give us an advanced screening of the new season of PSYCH.

I've been an avid watcher of the show for quite some time-- it is hilarious-- so I was super excited for it!

The ticket we printed off said first come first serve, and it started at 6, so Nate and I thought we'd get there by 5 and it'll a be good. The line was SOOOO long at 5. I had no idea how big of a thing this was.  We kept following the line from the second floor of the Union to the basement to get to the end of it. Luckily, towards the end we ran into some good friends of ours and decided to have a party.

Once we were in the ballroom, where the showing was to be held, we got our seats and got the smallest slices of pizza ever, and then saw that there were psychics there!  I was excited, I really wanted to get my fortune told! (FOR FREE!)

I ran over to her and plopped down.  She was going to "read me" from Tarot cards.  She had me shuffle them and then she laid them out.  I don't remember everything she told me or the order, but here is the gist of it:
--I love knowledge, and have a lot of it, but I need to "seek" (STUDY) more to reach my full potential.
--I am grasping onto something that is holding me back and once I let go, I will receive something wonderful.
--Someone I met recently is going to make a HUGhE impact on my future!
--I am a natural leader, whether it be with friends or peers, but I need to accept my role of leadership and lead others.
--I am going to be visited by some Wizard (I think it was a wizard...) very soon, and the paticular wizard that is going to visit me always brings the BEST gifts, sometimes monetary, other times spiritually.
--The Wheel of Fortune is in my future, which means I'm going to receive some very nice gifts. (She said I should expect a very good Christmas.)

I was stoked about my future! It sounds excellent, no?

Then we watched the new episode, which was pretty good.  Not the best I've seen, but it picked up where the last episode from the last season ended, so it was more of a continuation.

After the episode, they gave away some Psych swag by answering trivia questions and/or asking the writer questions about the show.  Nate asked him a good question so we got some BOBBLE HEADS for our apartment.

Psych has this thing where there is a hidden pineapple in every episode, so tapped a picture of a pineapple on a few of the chairs to give away prizes that way.  Once they announced to feel the bottom of your chair to see if you've won, my friend Sidrah was so EXCITED, she ripped the cardboard bottom off of the chair. The defaced UM property. Rebel.

Last night, I was looking at Psych's website to look at the pictures they posted from UM.  I was flipping through them and saw a picture of ME AND MY FRIENDS! We are pretty much famous now.  I was so PSYCHed. Punny, no?

X Factor

I had a really rough night.
I had something cool planned for today, but it is postponed to tomorrow.

Cheryl finally lost one of her acts. I'm glad it was Treyc and not Katie. Something about Katie makes me intrigued and makes me want to see her again next week. I'm glad the judges saved her!

This is my super quick, lazy, uneducated attempt at a cut-out.  The only thing I knew about them is to 1.) Use the polygonal lasso tool and 2.) use textures.

I was just playing around making shapes on Buffy, and then decided to fill the shapes in with textures I found via google.

Why Buffy you ask?

Chiller, channel 153 for you fellow ATTers, started playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer in November and yesterday they had a 25 hour marathon, thanks to day lights saving time!

I LOVE Buffy! She only entered my life fairly recently.  I've always like SMG, she is in my FAVORITE movie of all time (any guesses?), but I never watched Buffy when it was on TV. So I thought... why not give it a chance?  I downloaded all seven seasons and started watching multiple episodes a day, in between doing homework, sometimes instead of doing homework...
I drew this in my desk drawer in my dorm last year with an expo marker. I needed motivation.

I finished the last episode towards the end of while working in the office at Cranbrook. It was bittersweet though. Buffy was in my life for so long, then it was over. I was so desperate for my Buffy fix that I actually downloaded the "eighth" season, which were comics. But I quickly got over the break up and did not read a single one of the comics.

I'm waiting for a Buffy reunion movie, though. That was be pretty rad! Get to it Joss!!

Fucking Perfect

I don't know what it is about Pink, but I feel the urge to share her with you.

Much like Raise Your Glass, her new song "Fucking Perfect" is a song to the underdogs. To those who don't feel like they are the coolest person in the world -- when they really are.

Just a glimpse at the chorus verifies it's message.
"Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing
You're fucking perfect to me"

Here is the song for you're listening pleasure.

Also, her music video for Raise Your Glass was released very recently.
I love all the symbolism in it!
--Rosie the Riveter!
--When she impales the bull fighter to give him a taste of his own medicine.
--When she is feeding a calf the milk from women's breasts.
--The way she basically says "Fuck religion!" (literally)
--Those dancing nerds at prom. ADORBS!

Give OMBRE some HOPE, Chelsea.

One thing that is HOT right now in the fashion world is the Ombre hair style.

It is being done by many celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Fergie, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Well, I guess Chelsea has been influenced by the media, since she decided to try to pull it off as well.  Unfortunately for her... it's not working.

Ombre is french for "to shade."  The idea behind the Ombre hairstyle is to have it fade from one color to another, looking glamourous.

Chelsea thinks it just means "grow out your roots." Poor girl.

PS. How do you like the new layout?!

Sex Is Not Always Fun...

I'm taking a women's studies class at UM. I hate it. It is nothing like I expected, but it's nice to get it done and over with since it fills the required humanities credit.

I've been waiting for this week for a while now.  We've had some interesting topics, such as "gender" and "class," but I was thinking "sexuality" would take the cake.  I figured the articles would be interesting to read, and I'd actually learn a thing or two.

I was wrong.

This might be in lead for the worst week EVER.  The articles are super long and dry as a bone. And it doesn't help that they were written by crusty old lesbians.  But not any crusty old lesbians, the crusty old lesbians that started "sexual studies."

Basically, all three articles talk about the political side of sexuality. BORING.

They took such an interesting topic and KILLED IT. Murdered it and drained it of all it's blood. Who the eff cares about politics.  I know you may be thinking, well politics are important! Yeah? Well not the politics from the 80s.  I'm sure a lot of queer politics have changed since then.  Well, actually, I'm not so sure because I am reading such dated articles!

I'll end this with an appropriate emoticon... :(

New Colors?

I think I need to do something with my blog. The colors are hurting my eyes. Just the lime green. I don't know what to do to fix it though.  I'll play around and see what comes of it.

Yesterday I didn't post the X Factor results from this past weekend. So heres that!

I attended my old high school's dress rehearsal for their show last night, but I actually got there after they finished, so I don't even know what it's about! I am real glad I got to hang out with Megan Walker for the night though, and even more excited I get to see her again today!

October is Over, and You Know What That Means!

Now that Halloween is over, it is time to bust out the Christmas lights and the Christmas jams. 'Tis the season to be jolly!

Halloween went much better than I was expecting for this year.  I think it's best to have no expectations, because then you will never be let down!

I was expecting the peak of my Halloween season to be last Thursday, when Chelsea came over to my apartment and we were going to watch horror movies and carve pumpkins.  We did all of that -- plus MORE!

Carving pumpkins went terribly. I made a lovely design in Illustrator that I planned on carving and wowing Chelsea with. Except pumpkins are so much harder to carve that I thought. It was fun de-gutting the pumpkin and baking the seeds though!

Movie marathon was excellent. Over the weekend, we watched Last House on the Left, Drag Me To Hell, Halloween, Halloween: H20, Halloween: Resurrection, and I feel like there were more but I can't remember.

Saturday day was uber fun.  Nate went home to visit family and friends and what not, but Chelsea and I stayed in A2 for some fun.  We were dancing and singing and scaring each other in the dark. I even dressed up like Michael Myers and practically chased her out of the apartment building. She basically crapped her pants.

We had a good old fashioned get together on Saturday evening, but I can't remember most of what happened that night either. I remember cookies and Amy trying to turn the oven off and pretending we were in the ALPS.

Then I woke up Sunday morning, Halloween day.  I have a huge exam today, so I figured I would spend all day studying. Wrong...

Chelsea and I went trick or treating and got a lot of treats!
Then Nate and I spent some time with some good friends and I can just tell you that I got zer0 studying done.

So that brings me to today.

And I need to be studying.
